-
Always choose a flying site at least 5 km (3
miles) from an airfield and a good distance
away from roads and railway lines.
-
Never fly a kite near electric pylons, or
overhead lines of any kind.
-
Do not fly in a thunderstorm, the kite could
act as a lightening conductor.
-
Avoid flying over the heads of other people,
cars or animals as this could cause
them alarm, or worse yet, injury.
-
Do not fly your kite over the legal limit in
your country. In the UK
this is normally
200 ft or as
stated by the Civil Aviation Authority
special permissions.
-
Wear protective gloves when flying single
line kites, especially for the larger kites
and in stronger winds to avoid string burns.
-
Keep away from flying too close to other
kites unless stunting or kite fighting.
-
Use the appropriate safety gear, helmet,
gloves etc when power kiting.
